In an earlier blog, I wrote about a schools’ competition to find names for the two beavers we released into an enclosure at Ewhurst Park.
The competition was run by our friends at the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, and the names chosen were Chompy and Hazel. The winning pupils were from Jaguar Class at Whitchurch Church of England Primary School, in Whitchurch, and Team Wilder at Mount Pleasant Junior School, in Southampton.
As a thank you for coming up with the names, we have written and published a short children’s book especially for them: Chompy and Hazel Go To Ewhurst Park.
Just for fun, here are a few pages from the book, which tells the story of four residents of Ewhurst Park – Harry the heron, Tina the toad, Sadal the snipe, and Doris the deer – and their first meeting with Chompy and Hazel.
