My name is Mandy and I am currently building a business and exploring food systems, entrepreneurship and philanthropy.
After I moved to the UK in 2015 to start my family, my passion for nutrition and education was re-ignited. Now I am sharing my passion through business ventures that educate British families and individuals about the benefits of sourcing seasonal, organic produce directly from producers.
As a young girl, I was taught the importance of sustainable, nutritious, and delicious living by my godmother. I grew up in rural South East Asia where farm-to-table was not just a lifestyle choice, but the natural way of life. As my primary childhood carer, my godmother went above and beyond to teach us about the importance of having a healthy balanced diet.
I have carried this passion with me throughout my life, always seeking the highest quality organic produce wherever I have lived in the world, from Hong Kong to Japan, Singapore and now London.
When I had my own children, my passion for healthy and organic eating took on a whole new meaning. I dedicated a huge amount of time to thinking about the lessons my godmother had taught me, and in turn, the lessons that I wanted to pass on to my own children.
Last year my eldest daughter asked if she could have her own chicken and cow for Christmas, and she informed me (in the way that six-year olds do..!) that they would be called Poppy & Rosie, respectively. I was overwhelmed with pride that I had sparked her passion for organic food, and I knew then that I wanted to share my passion and knowledge with others through my business ventures.
For now, I am working hard to bring the concept of farm-to-table to the heart of London through my Notting Hill Deli, at 296 Westbourne Grove. The deli will be committed to sourcing the best quality seasonal produce directly from independent British producers and artisans.
I have grand ambitions to expand my business – but the most important aspect of this growth for me is that it feels right. I promise to carry this with me every step of the way, and that my plans will be carefully thought through, with the end consumer in mind.
